Register for Missouri S&T’s Oct. 4 Manufacturing Day Events
ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri University of Science and Technology will celebrate Manufacturing Day on Friday, Oct. 4, with several events scheduled throughout the day.
“Our university’s manufacturing initiatives promise to have huge implications for the state’s workforce and should help provide a needed boost to our economy,” says Dr. Richard Billo, director of S&T’s Kummer Center for Advanced Manufacturing and the Missouri Protoplex, a 116,000-square-foot manufacturing innovation hub set to open in 2026.
“Manufacturing Day will be a great time for people to visit our campus, celebrate our efforts to improve the pipeline of well-trained engineers and skilled tradespeople, and learn more about what we are doing.”
The celebration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center with a welcome from Dr. Mo Dehghani, the university’s chancellor.
Multiple speakers will discuss ongoing efforts to promote advanced manufacturing in Missouri, including State Rep. Don Mayhew; Chuck Gatschenberger, coordinator of the Office of the Missouri Military Advocate; Jack Stack, president and CEO of SRC Holdings; and Dr. Aaron Birt, co-founder and CEO of Solvus Global.
Billo will be the final speaker of the morning, with a talk focused on how Missouri S&T, East Central College and St. Charles Community College are working together to modernize the Missouri manufacturing industry and reinvigorate its workforce. Missouri’s Fiscal Year 2025 budget includes $9.1 million for a MoExcels grant for the institutions’ collaborations related to manufacturing equipment, facilities, curriculum and outreach.
A panel discussion focused on overcoming manufacturing workforce shortages will follow lunch. The day will end with a tour of S&T’s Center for Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies, which is located in Room 101 of the Engineering Management Building.
The deadline to register for the Manufacturing Day events at go.mst.edu/mfgday2024 is Friday, Sept. 27.
