Rolla Chamber Foundation Presents Parents as Techers with Book Drive Earnings with help from Soda & Scoops on Route 66

Rolla, MO — A community initiative by the Rolla Chamber Foundation and Chamber Education Committee raised $664.44 for the Rolla Public Schools Parents as Teachers Book Drive during the summer months. Thanks to a generous and anonymous donor’s match, the total impact doubled to $1,328.88.

Soda & Scoops on Route 66 partnered with The Chamber Foundation this year in support of the annual book drive. The campaign invited customers to “round up” their purchases at checkout, with every cent supporting PAT. All proceeds will be used to purchase curriculum and materials for the Parents as Teachers program, ensuring families in the local community have access to tools that encourage early learning.

Parents as Teachers is a nationwide, voluntary early childhood development program that partners with families to raise children who are healthy, safe, and ready to learn. The program provides research-based curricula and home visits, giving parents the skills, confidence, and resources they need to guide their child’s development from the very beginning, and in their own homes.

By engaging a child’s first and most influential teachers, parents and caregivers, Parents as Teachers helps to foster strong foundations for lifelong learning and success. Laura Brown, Director of Early Childhood of the Rolla Public School District, oversees the program and is committed to making sure local families have access to the same high-quality resources and opportunities available nationwide.
