Backyard BBQ Bash raises nearly $19,000 to support area foster, adoptive and kinship families

Jefferson City, Mo. — Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association raised $18,772.41 during its fourth annual Backyard BBQ Bash on Tuesday, June 2, at The Millbottom in Jefferson City.
Approximately 125 guests gathered for an evening of food, music, games and community support for foster, adoptive and kinship families across central Missouri. Perfect weather helped create a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere for the event. The event featured pork steaks grilled by MFA Oil volunteers, face painting by Merry Mary, music from Soul Sisters, games, a silent auction, a whiskey and wine pull, and more.

“We are so grateful for everyone who showed up, gave, volunteered and helped make this event possible,” said Jill Quaid, CEO of CMFCAA. “The Backyard BBQ Bash is about more than one night of food and fun. It is about a community coming together to support children and families who need stability, connection and hope.”

Funds raised from the Backyard BBQ Bash support CMFCAA programs and services that help children and caregivers thrive, including emergency backpacks for children entering care, respite opportunities for caregivers, youth mentoring, advocacy, family support and other resources for foster, adoptive and kinship families.

CMFCAA also thanks the sponsors whose support helped make the event possible. Party Starter Sponsors were Luebbering Insurance and Mid America Bank. Flame Sponsors were Anders CPA, Backwater Jack’s, Oscar’s Classic Diner and Zimmer Communications. Grill Side Sponsors were Slone Solutions LLC, Newman, Comley & Ruth P.C., Central Bank, Rusty Drewing Automotive, GFI Digital, First Mid Bank and Hawthorn Bank.

CMFCAA also extends appreciation to MFA Oil, Trinity Lutheran Church volunteers, Soul Sisters, Merry Mary, silent auction donors, event volunteers and everyone who attended or supported the fundraiser.
