Rolla (12/23/2025) One of Phelps for the Fort’s most meaningful traditions is participating in Holiday Block Leave, an annual event dedicated to supporting and thanking soldiers who are unable to travel home for Christmas. This year, Phelps for the Fort was honored to host around 130 soldiers to a Hometown Christmas that offered a lot of holiday fun and a heartfelt show of appreciation for their service and sacrifice.
The event brought soldiers together for festive holiday games, laughter, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. A delicious meal was prepared by the Rolla Lions Club team and generously paid for by Grellner Sales and Services, helping create a comforting holiday experience. Sodas were provided by Pepsi and Coca-Cola, and a cozy hot chocolate bar was donated by Four Rivers, adding to the festive spirit of the day.
“This event is just a small token of our appreciation for the soldiers who give up so much, especially during the holidays,” said Stevie Kearse, Executive Director of the Rolla Chamber of Commerce. “We are incredibly thankful for their service and sacrifice, and we want them to know how much they are valued by our community.”
Phelps for the Fort also extends sincere gratitude to the many community members and businesses who donated prizes, gifts, monetary contributions as well as their time to support the event. Their generosity made it possible to create a memorable and meaningful experience for the soldiers in attendance.
Phelps for the Fort remains committed to supporting soldiers and strengthening the connection between the military and the greater Phelps County community throughout the year.
