The State of Missouri made available $22 million in grant funds through the CARES Act for eligible Missouri nonprofits directly impacted by the public health emergency, with priority given to those serving at-risk populations in the areas of: homelessness prevention, job training, food insecurity and basic needs, at-risk youth services, childcare, and academic/educational support. Each year the St. James High School participates in a Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Caring Center. Clubs helping Senior Beta, Student Council and Pay It Forward gathered in front of the Caring Center truck for a photo. The Caring Center distributes food to families throughout the community, and it is especially important during the holiday season. What a wonderful group of students who are willing to gather food items and share with those in need.
The St. James Caring Center was blessed with an offer of receiving huge containers of new and gently used winter boots. In response, we contacted the Russell House in Rolla to make a donation to their cause. Caring Center staff member Don Shimon is assisting the representatives from Russell House re-box 150-200 pairs of boots. Wonderful gift to the Caring Center to pass on to other organizations.
