Job Description
Provides seasonal support to facilities HVAC staff by assisting with maintenance, repair, and installation tasks related to campus heating, ventilation, and air condition systems. Duties focus primarily on preventative maintenance, basic repairs, and operations support during peak summer workload. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair and maintain HVAC systems, including hot water and steam heating systems and chilled water cooling systems 
  • Utilize testing equipment to check controls and to balance air flow
  • Install and change bearings, shafts, belts, and filters 
  • Perform sheet metal work and duct and diffuser instillation 
  • Operate and maintain centrifugal chillers and stem absorption chillers 
  • Perform maintenance/repair on pneumatic, electrical, and electronic control systems and prepare documentation required to make out preventative maintenance program effective
  • Read blue prints, plan drawings, and writing drawings in order to complete assignments 
  • Clean, maintain, safely operate and properly store all tools and equipment 
  • Observe and enforce all safety requirements related to equipment operation 
  • May perform or assist with preparation of cost estimates, material orders, reports and maintenance of records 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

8:00am-4:30pm
Minimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
  • Ability to read blueprints, plans, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Skill in maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials of applicable trade.
  • Ability on a daily basis to: 
    • Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment
    • Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (50-80 lbs.)
    • Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, lift, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc. Visually assess maintenance, construction and repair needs
    • Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding
  • A valid driver’s license may be required

Anticipated Hiring Range:
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $20.49-$27.48 hourly. 
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
