The Referral Coordinator will assists clinic physicians, staff and patients with proper documentation and information requested by insurance companies of managed care patients.
Within the Family Medicine clinic there is seven physicians and two nurse practitioners.
Communicates information to Utilization Management, Managed Care Department, physician offices, other institutions and/or insurance companies to insure accurate referral and authorization processing.
Schedules appointments with specialty offices and/or other institutional facilities for referred patients.
Coordinates and dispatches all reports, test results and documentation required for set appointments.
Education: Graduate of medical office assistant secondary program or knowledge of business office procedures; knowledge of medical terminology and insurance procedures preferred. Must have computer knowledge and typing skills, ICD-9 and CPT coding.
Experience: Previous experience in insurance and medical procedures. One year experience in a medical office setting in insurance, medical patient care and/or business office position.
