FULL-TIME ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER ROLLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Pay Range:          $16.894/hour to $21.400/hour  ($35,139 to $44,513 annual)
 
FLSA:                 Full-time, Non-exempt
                           This position does not use the Flex Schedule.

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC DUTIES: 
 
Work involves the capture, care, disposition or disposal of animals within the City.  The duties require the exercise of good judgment and tact while dealing with the public.  Work assignments are made through designation of areas for patrol as determined on the basis of citizen complaints. Additional duties include maintenance of the Animal Shelter, preparation of written reports, occasional appearance in court as a witness in animal ordinance violation cases, and other duties as assigned.
 
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 
 
A high school diploma or equivalent General Education Development Certificate (GED) and some knowledge of law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment; working knowledge of animal restraint and care techniques.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
 
Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; and taste or smell  Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 
 
Must possess a valid Missouri Driver's License at the time of appointment; must be able to read and write the English language; have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories; and have no medical allergies to animals, animal hair, or commonly used cleaning products.  Must satisfactorily complete a 6-month probationary period.
