Equipment Operator (Parks & Recreation)

Serves as lead worker to mow and maintain parks, open space areas and recreational
facilities such as ball fields, tennis courts, cemetery, playgrounds and restrooms. Performs
semi-skilled building maintenance. Performs routine maintenance on lawn and power
equipment. Operates tractors, mowers, hand tools, and other essential parks equipment.
Performs some custodial work and litter control. Responsible to assist with opening and
closing of locks, parks, and restrooms after regular hours and weekends as needed. Assists
in various park and recreation programs (setup, cleanup). Able to maintain work records
and schedules.
EDUCATION: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Any equivalent
combination of relevant education and experience in repair, construction, landscaping,
maintenance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Missouri Driver’s license. Right of Way
Pest Control certification and herbicide applicator’s license or ability to obtain within a year.
