JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
 
Position Title: Mechanic                                                         Salary Grade: 4
Department: Environmental Services                                     Salary Range: $42,800.70 - $59,246.18
                                                                                                FLSA: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
 
 
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Vehicle Maintenance Division is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and inspections on the City's fleet of vehicles and equipment. This includes ensuring all vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and operating efficiently to support City services while minimizing downtime through routine maintenance and timely repairs.
 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Must have graduated from accredited high school or have GED.  Must have a minimum of five years’ mechanical or related experience.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, fire pumps and valves, generators, welding, and municipal vehicle maintenance and repair. Working knowledge of applicable safety practices and hazards. Valid Missouri driver's license required. Must possess or obtain a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire. Must provide and maintain personal hand and air tools required to service City vehicles and equipment.
