Resident Advocate

Duties include:
Answer help line calls to ensure that callers have access to domestic violence and/or sexual violence support and advocacy;
Provide trauma informed intervention and safety planning to potential, current, and former clients;
Assess critical needs and conduct initial intake with prospective clients;
Conduct intake interviews, provides orientation, and follows up with new shelter residents;
Monitor surveillance cameras and the safety of residents and the shelter;
Help with the daily upkeep of the shelter; and
May provide additional shift coverage, as needed, including holiday coverage as required.
Two Evening Full Time Shifts Available:
Weekend Shift Differential Pay
- Sunday to Thursday (40 hours)
AND
- Friday to Monday (32 hours)
2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. (with 30 min. break)
One Overnight Full Time Shift Available
Weekend and Overnight Shift Differential Pay
- Friday to Monday (32 hours)
10:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m. (with a 30 min. break)
Skills & Experience
High school diploma and related experience.
Sensitivity to and acceptance of individual needs, differences, various ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner, particularly in the handling of confidential information, as well as in relations with personnel, facilities, and the community.
Ability and willingness to work cooperatively as a member of a team to accomplish team goals.
Ability to pass background check.
Individual must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be computer literate, out-going, creative and resourceful, a self-starter, and professional.
Ability to lawfully drive in the state of Missouri.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.

COVID-19 considerations:
Staff and residents wear a mask, practice regular hand-washing, participate in daily wellness checks, and surfaces are regularly cleaned and disinfected. Mask wearing is mandatory of anyone entering the shelter. A COVID Vaccination is highly recommended.
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Shelter & Recovery Home Monitors: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
