Civil Engineer

The City of Rolla is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Civil Engineer Salary $59,055 to $94,634 Open Until Filled The Position - This is professional level work at the advanced level. Work involves the performance of both complex and technical tasks intended to provide engineering support for public works projects and programs. Activities include but are not limited to Street, Sidewalk, Traffic Engineering, Stormwater Management, and Wastewater Treatment and Collection. Responsibilities include grant and permit applications, developer site plan review, engineering design and analysis, evaluation of regulatory program compliance and technical support for a wide range of municipal activities. Experience reviewing plans for code compliance is preferred. The work is performed with limited supervision from the Director of Public Works. General Requirements - A Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in Civil Engineering and four years experience in progressively responsible professional engineering experience. Supervisory experience is highly desirable. Applicants must possess a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification as issued by or acceptable to the Missouri Board of Professional Licensor. Possession of a certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Missouri preferred. Must possess a valid Missouri Drivers License; Class F. Candidate Profile - The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of public works principles and practices, basic civil engineering, and construction methods and associated costs. The candidate must also be able to perform a wide variety of technical design work including the preparation of plans, contract documents and maps using state of the art design, drafting, mapping and clerical computer applications. Candidate must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, elected and appointed officials, regulatory agencies and city employees in a customer service oriented environment.
