What you will do:
The Lender/Branch Manager is the frontline leader for the branch team and sets the tone to ensure our branch staff is eager to assist our customers, ensuring they are delivering on our promise of smart, friendly banking solutions. The Lender/Branch Manager oversees all operational aspects of the branch with a direct emphasis on lending service activities and staffing. The Lender/Branch Manager will manage loan portfolio and business relationships from small to complex in nature and may work under the direction of a Senior Lender.
This is a licensed Loan Originator position.
Principal Accountabilities
Business Development
• Makes retention and business development calls on existing and potential new clients.
• Expands existing customer relationships by cross-selling additional bank products and services
• Represent the financial institution in various civic and community functions to enhance its image and develop new business
Lending & Underwriting ( self and staff)
• Will have credit authority according to loan policy guidelines
• Obtains required financial information from prospects and customers and completes each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner
• Screens loan request based on financial institution policies and on types of loans offered by the institution and ensures that all consumer loans follow regulatory guidelines
• Analyzes the credit history of applicants and recommends and outlines terms of loans, and informs prospective borrowers of loan commitments according to policy guidelines
• Prepares credit memoranda and notifies applicants of loan decision
• Makes and presents appropriate recommendations to the area
• Orders appraisals, credit reports, title opinions, and other information as needed
• Follows up and coordinates with loan processor to ensure all necessary credit information required by bank policy and regulatory guidelines are obtained for a complete file
• Keeps abreast of market trends
• Follows current loans to ensure a current and complete credit file
Cross Selling
• Expands existing customer relationships by cross-selling additional bank products and services
• Actively participates in the financial organization's sales campaigns
• Knows financial institution's products and services
• Targets 100% loans booked, ensuring a demand deposit account has been established
Collections
• Reviews delinquent loan status for the financial institution, contacting those delinquent account holders through telephone calls, letters, and personal visits.
• Participates in the financial institution development of collection policies and procedures for foreclosure, credit for payment of delinquent accounts, and other default procedures
Customer Service
• Ensuring branch staff provides the highest degree of customer service
• Resolves issues and problems to maintain positive client relationships
• Provides and maintains a professional, business-like atmosphere within the branch office
• Understands and explains banking products and services to potential new or current customers
Managing Role
• Manages the branch office operation and profitability
• Promotes and enhances the corporate culture and fosters the development and implementation of organizational vision, policies, and guidelines
• Builds constructive and effective relationships to support a collaborative working environment
• Develops lending staff
• Manages branch loan technical exceptions ensuring exceptions are obtained on time.
• Communications with staff via email or meetings regarding information items
• Oversees the proper loan risk rating for the branch
• Collaborates with Retail Manager to provide personnel management for branch staff
• Reviews staff members for formal performance evaluations and recommends salary adjustments
• Counsels employees when needed
• Coordinates staff training with the Retail Manager when needed
• Establishes and helps to attain internal performance objectives for branch office business volume, deposits, loan portfolios, and quality of audit reports
Other Duties
• Maintains office building, grounds, equipment, and fixtures
• Assists with other duties as assigned and directed by senior management
• Maintains and stays abreast of security policies and procedures
• Is responsible for all applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act
• Is knowledgeable about and follows Banks policies and procedures
• Completes all internal training assignments on time
• Performs all duties in conformance with all Bank policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Good aptitude for figures and detail
• Complete knowledge of the financial institutions and regulatory lending policies and procedures
• Good cross-selling, management, and organizational skills
• Good oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with customers
Education/Training/Experience
• Bachelor's degree
• 3+ years of experience in a financial institution
• 3+ years of experience in management
