Assistant Stage Manager

DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities: (please note, this list is not exhaustive, but rather a representation of job duties)

SM Prep. Help the Stage Manager tape out the floorplan, print and distribute scripts, pull rehearsal props and furniture, and help with any needed paperwork.

Before each rehearsal, the ASM should help the SM ensure the stage or rehearsal space is ready. This includes sweeping, setting up furniture, set pieces, and props. Track attendance, notate blocking, be on book during rehearsal and provide other support as requested by the Stage Manager

Run the deck during tech rehearsals and performances. Be prepared to assis with scenic and prop elements backstage as necessary.

After rehearsals and/or performances, the ASM should help the SM ensure everything is put away and the facility is safe to walk away.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment.

Participate in work calls, meetings and events as required.

Build and maintain appropriate backstage paperwork throughout the production, which can then be shared with run crew during tech.

Qualifications & Qualities:

Required/Minimum Qualifications or Basic Qualifications:

Experience in working with people and management of crews.

Experience in maintaining a prompt book and calling performances.

Ability to take blocking notes and compose rehearsal/performance reports

Attention to detail, sense of timing, and accuracy of work.

Optimism, sense of humor, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work under time constraints with artistic people as well as working on projects alone.

Team player with good problem-solving abilities, time management skills, diplomacy, and communication.

Experience working on straight plays and musicals preferred

Must be a member of Actors Equity Association or willing and able to comply with conditions of an AEA contract.

Must be available to work 6 days per week onsite per the conditions of the AEA contract. This is a full time position with overlapping rehearsal and performance schedules. Housing will be provided for the duration of the contract.

Must be comfortable with physical activity, including but not limited to walking, standing, lift of up to 50 pounds. Please note our spaces sadly do not have an elevator at this time.

 

Must be comfortable with varying work environments, including but not limited to quiet and loud spaces.

$572.00 – $572.00 per week
