Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller. The position is responsible for general ledger and financial reporting integrity, account reconciliations, assists with regulatory compliance, ad hoc reporting and analysis, and software systems support and works closely with all departments in both entities.
Duties:
The following duties are typical for this position. Employees may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
Essential Job Duties:
• Prepare and process journal entries
• Manage the month-end process to ensure the integrity of the financial statements
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Item Inventory reconciliation
• Cost accounting for finished goods and grapes/wine
• Prepare all excise, sales and use tax returns
• Prepare federal and state monthly compliance reports
• Provide operational support for NAV and other software systems as a finance liaison
• Assist with process improvements
• Cap Ex for accounting purposes
• Back up to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
Qualifications and Experience:
The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Minimum Experience & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in an accounting position
• Must have a strong understanding of accounting and the ability to solve problems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong understanding of federal, state and local tax regulations
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Experience in manufacturing and retail accounting
• Ideal candidate thrives in fast paced environment and must be very detail oriented
